Activities At a Glance
Birthday Celebrations
The PIAIP space was a lively and happy space celebrating three birthdays in
a row. Birthday celebrations at PIAIP mean working with enthusiasm and
excitement. This entails delegating tasks, deciding the menu, procuring items
for the menu and decoration, executing, and delivering, with lots of fun along
the way. Student teams were involved in decision-making, money
management, and much more. A task as simple as balloon filling is crucial as
educators look at it from the perspective of breathwork – if filling by mouth,
pressure control is needed if filling with a pump predicting when to stop and
avoid bursting the balloon, and handling the bursting sound, measurement
and so much more come into play. These occasions are times for social
bonding that include conversations – dialoguing to continue and stay on the
topic of choice.
Hostel Nights
As special students require training for self-management, we have resumed the much-awaited Hostel Nights. Over a period of 2-3 days, students attended regular classes followed by an afternoon siesta. In the evenings, they indulged in activities such as sports, music, dance, movie, and more. A group outing was planned to expose students to the outside world.
Cultural Event at Anandgram
Students attended a cultural event at Anandgram. The event was hosted by Tender Roots’. Percussion Traditions from India were presented live with a focus on the states of Manipur and Kerala.
Industrial Visits
Students from Second Chance Home students enjoyed their industrial visits to the Trident, Visan, and Indian School of Hospitality (ISH). Visan and ISH are training institutes in the field of hospitality. They saw the world of opportunities and could relate to aiming better. At every place, the need for grooming and presentation was stressed. There were also workshops on towel art and grooming by The Trident (Gurgaon).
Individual Sensory Integration Therapy
The practice of vocal chanting helps through vibrational relaxation and works on the vocal cords and breath flow - this has become a routine exercise. Yoga sessions show results as students practice for the upcoming sports day.
Planting Seasonal Flowers
The day boarders are busy planting seasonal flowers. They are indulging in
positive recreation of drumming. The preintern group has participated in most of
the above activities thus gaining from both structured and unstructured interactions. The upcoming sports day is keeping everyone busy and physically active.
Taekwondo
The Pallavanjali team is proud to have Himanshu Kohli teach us some martial
art moves to showcase at the sports event. Himanshu is a young achiever, he
holds credit for participating in international championships and holds rank
10 in India for Taekwondo.
